Written by Seamus Fera and put on by the Junior and Senior Acting Troupes at Arts Umbrella in 2021, this show explores Shakespeare’s plays through the perspective of young actors and students grappling with the textual legacy and future of the Bard.

Solstice Greetings

In collaboration with the Firehall Arts Centre and Stratchcona Elementary, Solstice Greetings featured stories written by students and performed by professional actors. Directed by Mika Laulainen, this 70 minute show featured songs, puppetry, stories, and poems inspired by the winter solstice.

Bloom 2020

Produced by MascallDance and featuring choreography by Bevin Poole, Rob Kitsos, and Grace Yuen in collaboration with their children. The format of Bloom sees each dance paired with a unique tea curated by a teamaster and features colour commentary by Comedian Jenn Griffin.

 

From Talking Stick to Microphone

Presented as part of the 2021 Talking Stick Festival, this event showcased poetry and music by some of the most incredible BIPOC artists living here on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

A Christmas Carol

Presented by The Metro Theatre in December 2020, this production of A Christmas Carol had to quickly pivot from its plans for a live performance. Socially distanced actors doing live foley sound effects made for a magical Christmas experience on the digital stage.

 
 

Fifty Shades of Vinyl

A loving tribute to Stuart McLean with a saucy twist. Featuring a series of orignal parodies written by Nico Dicecco and Kyle Carpenter, this show follows the private lives of Dale and Marnie as they embark on a series of heartfelt and mildly catastrophic experiments in the bedroom.
